“Sure, let me check my calendar--- I can do next Tuesd...oh, you mean now. Uhh, yeah, just pull up that chair and throw that pile of magazines on that other pile of magazines. Careful! That's an antique!”

*Ink droplets, akin to the sound of rainfall*

“I've been making stuff for a looong time and I like making lots of different types of stuff. A little of this, a little of that, here, there, give, take- a flow of objects. I like exploring different ways to create, be it literary, visual, tactile, auditory, etc.

As well as a maker, I see myself as a collector of oddities, trinkets, chachkies, doo-dads, and thing-a-ma-bobs. I'm informed and inspired by the stuff I find around me and the stuff I hold near to me. What?-- Ohh, yeah, exactly, just like those old beaten-up dusty duck decoys or that box of vintage glass eyes!”

*Clacking*

“My work is deeply personal and eclectic, sometimes silly and foolish, always heartfelt, never in mint condition.”

*Metallic squeaking*

“Well, first and foremost, I can't make my art without my notebooks, journals, sketchbooks, and notes app; all of the places I file away my silly ideas until they've cooked a bit and I'm ready to pick them back up to maybe turn them into something slightly closer to a finished product.

Also, here at The Press, I keep an old jukebox that I got from a diner on 53rd and 3rd that was going out of business. It only plays What's New Pussycat by Tom Jones and occasionally Orinoco Flow by Enya. It might also be haunted. I have a paranormal expert coming in to look at it soon. Music is a very important part of my practice and helps my creativity flow.

Lastly, ink of course! Everyone knows it's part of a balanced and loquacious diet!”

*Sticking stamping sounds*

“You'll most likely be seeing me on Wednesdays in The Pulps. Although, there's no telling where I might show up; kinda like that weird bruise that makes you go ‘where did that come from?’

Now, would you mind helping me find a little ornate box? This girl named Pandora's been searching around in here for it for what feels like millennia. I hope she finds it.”

“I feel really Weird about describing myself as an artist, so I’ll just describe what I make. I make sHort stories, zines, comics, and somEtimes paintings. I would say that my woRk fits into the genrE ‘New Weird’ & thAt’s the scene that I dreaM to be perceived In.

I love stories and am obsessed with Frankenstein. Even if not apparent, I would say that all of my work has been touched by it. I’m also inspired by the RomantiCism period ANd feel verY akin to mOnsters.”

*Clacking of rubber stamps in a loose drawer*

“Ummm… wHat Else cAn I say? After wRiting a collection of short stories that ended up being garbage, I was too afraid to really authentically create again until you-”

“Oh… sorry… got carried away. You can expect to see My stories in thE Wednesday Pulps, my comic BADBAD will pop up every now and then in the Sundays, and you’ll see the other stuff eventually.”

*The gentle thap of a heavy sheet of paper sliding off the press, onto the floor*

Oh, Artist interviews?

*bottles of ink shifting, whine of an almost rusted lever crank*

Oh no, I’m fine doing one. I just didn’t think that I was worth interviewing. Um, well, uh- I am Someone Ordinary, and I make comics for the Semi-Functioning Press.

*lever cranks*

Mm, I actually only very recently realized how much I enjoyed telling stories, and so I hopped at the opportunity to do it professionally.

*a gear wines abruptly stopping*

Or yeah, I guess semi-professionally. anyways yeah, I used to do this in my room alone and I’d barley share any of my work… but then the press reached out to me, it felt like a dream, like I wasn’t yet awake and was being reached out to from a different plane of existence and being asked to draw comics! after a few-

*press noises*

yeah, then that dream came true. Been drawing non-stop ever since.

*The roller stops spitting a sheet of paper onto the floor*
